Some homes are simply built; others are thoughtfully envisioned, meticulously planned, and carefully crafted over time. This project was the latter - a dream, years in the making, shaped by a deep connection to the land, a passion for design, and a fusion of Swiss and Canadian influences.
From the start, there was clarity. The homeowners knew exactly what they wanted and patiently searched for the perfect property for several years. When the right site finally revealed itself, the vision took shape almost effortlessly with the initial sketches closely resembling the final build.
With a strong Swiss influence, their design choices reflected a blend of European precision and mountain warmth. Every detail, from the architectural lines to the smallest finishing touches, was intentional, a seamless mix of heritage and contemporary living.
Though they met in Canada, their journey took them to Switzerland for several years, where the dream of returning to the Canadian mountains took hold. They longed for a space that would embrace the natural landscape, a retreat where they could retire and welcome family and friends. The home was designed for gathering, with a feature bar area and an inviting kitchen centered around a custom curved table - an idea brought to life with a clear vision.
The homeowners curated a detailed idea board that methodically brought their vision to life, making the entire process both inspiring and rewarding.
Beyond aesthetics, efficiency and sustainability were top priorities. The home boasts passive house-certified windows, 11-inch-thick R40 walls, Hydronic heated floors throughout and an automatic backup generator for uninterrupted power. Every element was considered for both comfort and longevity, ensuring the home would stand the test of time.
The attention to detail extended beyond the home itself. Landscaping was a personal endeavor, carefully planned and executed by the homeowners. Swiss outdoor signage and stylistic elements complemented the property, telling a story not just of a house, but of a lifestyle.
Inside, the blend of cultures was undeniable - Swiss cowbells met cowboy hats, a nod to both their heritage and their new home in the mountains. The result was a space that feels personal, inviting, and effortlessly connected to the surrounding landscape.
